How Can YOU Hit a Target You Do Not Even Have?

Written goals and goal setting will allow you to accomplish more of what you want to accomplish…FASTER…than not having and writing your goals.

Zig Ziglar - Center for Performance Improvement

Written goals create that internal, burning desire that incites you to get out of bed each morning. Goals are much more motivational than just paying the bills or getting up today because that’s what you did yesterday!

When you focus on your goals, what you want, you begin to move toward your goals and your goals come toward you. You become alert to new ideas, opportunities and possibilities.

We all know that change is a certainty in this life. By being focused on your goals, you have greater control over the change. Remember that old saying, “It’s not what happens, but how you take it,” well, with goals you are more likely to see stumbling blocks as stepping stones. Instead of being permanent failures, they’ll be temporary set backs.

When talking about goal setting, Zig Ziglar often told a story about the great archer, Howard Hill.

Howard Hill - perhaps the greatest archer of all-time.

Howard Hill - perhaps the greatest archer of all-time.

Howard was a master with the bow…able to take down a buffalo, shoot an apple out of the sky and even split his first arrow with a second…

In telling the story, Zig offered that assuming you are reasonably healthy and have good eyesight, he could have you hitting the bulls-eye more consistently than Howard Hill within 20 minutes of practice.Assuming of course that Howard was first blindfolded and spun around so that he had no sense of the direction he was facing.

After the laughs die down, Zig ends by stating that it’s common sense you can’t hit a target you can’t see.

The key: you must identify and write down your goals. Do it today.

You’ll be glad you did!
